General Statement
St. Joseph's School is an ideal residential school for boys and girls run by south Indians.It is situated at the heart of Maharajganj town with spacious compound and safe surroundings.

The aim of this institution is to impart a thorough and practical school education and sound moral training that will create praise, worthy character and balance judgement in its pupils so as to enable them to blossom into useful citizens of tomorrow.
Admission of Pupils
Children are admitted to Nursery at the age of 3. Such children are to be brought to the school ofice on a date announced by the principal. Admission to other classes is not held regularly but only if and when vacancies may occur. The academic year is from April to March. Registration of children for admission starts in January.Prospectus and application form can be obtained from the school office on payment of Rs.100/-. The presentation of the form does not constitute admission. It is confirmed when the applicant receives confirmation from the principal in writing.
Withdrawal And Dismissal
A month’s notice is required prior to the withdrawal of a pupil. Fee for that month will be charged. The school reserves the right to dismiss pupils whose progress in studies is unsatisfactory. Honesty, cleanliness, neatness of person and dress, good manners, loyalty and respect to seniors are demanded and any one not confirming to the school’s ideal in these matters may be asked to leave. Immorality or grave insubordination and contempt of authority are also reasons for dismissal. No repeater is allowed to stay in the hostel and a boy who fails in two consecutive classes or twice in the same class or whose scholastic record is below 20% may be asked to be withdrawn.
SUBJECT WE TEACH
English, English-Grammar, Hindi, Hindi-Grammar, Sanskrit, Mathematics, Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), Social Science (History, Geography, Civics), Moral Science, General Knowledge, Urdu, Physical Education, Drawing, Computer, Colouring and Music. All subjects will be taught through audio technology.
ORDER AND CONDUCT
- All the pupils must be in the school premises 15 minutes before the school hours. During class time no pupil is allowed to leave the school compound without proper permission from the principal.
- Class will begin at 09:30 am. Parents must make sure that their children reach the school 5 minutes before the class begins.
- Students must prepare the daily lessons and task at home, spend an hour and a half in home, study before class and two hours after class. Parents and guardians are requested to enforce the adherence of this rule at home. Let them also insist on punctuality in their daily classes.
- Parents should inform the authorities if their child is essential for the authorities to be aware of.
- Student should not leave the school premises during class hours without the permission of the principal.
- On their way to and from school all are expected to behave in a gentlemanly manner. All must be tidy in dress and nobody should enter or leave the school unless he/she wears the school uniform.
- Private tution is discouraged while daily study, asking question in class and clarification of doubts in class are encouraged.
- Parents should not visit the class teachers without the permission of the principal.
- After an absence from class, pupil must bring the reason which shall be entered in the regularity record stating briefly the cause of the absence or delay.
- No books, magazines comics etc. Other than those provided by the school, will be allowed in the hands of pupils unless signed by the principal
THE SCHOOL VACATION
There are three vacations during summer, Durga Puja and after Annual Examination.
THE STUDENT’S COUNCIL
- The student’s council is elected at the beginning of the school year and made up of the following members: School captain, School vice-captain, class-captains.
- The council meets once a week under the chairmanship of the school captain. The principal attends the meeting.
- The main purpose of the student’s council is to help the students experience responsibility in the maintenance of discipline.
- The school captain and vice-captain are responsible for the School Assembly.

There are monthly tests and three Terminal Examinations in a year. Examination fee will be charged only for Terminal Examinations.

- In all relating to the Boarding the Governing Body of the School has the final word.

For boys to go home, prior written permission is requested from the parents or guardians and from the Principal. Only for serious family reasons, boys will be permitted to go home.
- Every term the Hostel re-opens one day before the reopening of the school. Therefore the Boarders must arrive at 06:00 pm on the appointment day. They will be fined Rs. 50.00 for subsequent late day. If a boy falls sick during the holidays and the parents for see the boy will not be able to return to school on time they must write in good time to the Principal. If the necessary permission is not applied for or has been refused and the boy comes late, no excuses will be accepted. In the cast of sickness a medical certificate must always accompany the application.
- Before the boys return to school for a new term, the parents should kindly see that the boys have all the items mentioned in the clothing and equipment list.
- Parents or visitors should not enter the Dormitory and study rooms or talk to their boys and wards without previous permission from the concerned authority. Parents may visit their children once in a month but only on Sundays. Yisiting hours are between 08:00 am to 06:00 pm.
- The school authorities reserve themselves the right to dismiss any child from the boarding without being obliged to give reasons or explanations.
- The school authorities reserve to themselves the control of the boy’s correspondence.
- The school authorities will in no way responsible for costly items brought to the School/Hostel and lost.
- In the spilt of common life the boys are forbidden to keep more money than allowed. Extra money is to be deposited with the Prefect. Parents and relatives are therefore advised not to give the boys any money when they are in the hostel or when they return to the hostel.
- To be on the safe side, a parent should give the boy that he requires by way of clothes and articles on the hostel list, for any other need they should apply to the Principal.
- Private tuitions are not allowed.

The school has six working days in a week. Saturday will be half day. Second Saturday will be a holiday.
